7 Questions to Ask Your Junk

Orlando Junk RemovalYes, you read that right. As you clean out your closets, drawers, garage, and attic, you’re going to ask the resulting junk a series of revealing questions. When you speak to your junk and listen carefully to the answers you receive, your house becomes less cluttered, your life becomes less stressful, and you become more relaxed — all because you’re letting go of things that don’t matter so you can focus on what does. Orlando junk removal has never been easier.

  1. Does this have sentimental value to me?

This can be a tough question to answer honestly. Unless an item is extremely meaningful or impossible to replace, think about tossing it, especially if it’s taking up a lot of space in your home. If you’re not sure that you’re ready to part with it yet, promise to ask this question again in six months. Feelings change.

  1. Can I make money selling this?

Go online and research how much money you could make if you sold some of the stuff you’re hanging on to. You might be pleasantly surprised at what people are buying and how much they are willing to pay.

  1. Do I know someone who would like this?

Your cutting board shaped like the state of Maine is cool, but you rarely use it anymore. Your friend from the book club reminisces all the time about growing up in Maine. That cutting board would make her day.

  1. Do I already have too much/many of this/these?

Most of us have too much or too many of certain things, like kitchen utensils, similar shoes, cosmetics, stationery supplies, etc. If you have a lot of duplicates, keep your favorites and ditch the rest.

  1. Would it cost too much to replace?

Most of the stuff we hold on to is relatively cheap and commonplace: clothing, knickknacks, kids’ toys, sports gear. Ask yourself if something would be extremely expensive to replace if you ended up needing it later. If the answer is no, let it go.

  1. Have I used this in the last 6-12 months?

If you haven’t used something for a while, you probably never will.

  1. Does this make me look/feel good?

You typically wear 20% of the clothes in your closet 80% of the time. We all reach regularly for the pieces that fit well and make us look and feel good. Then we have pieces that we wear for special occasions. As for the rest, let it go.
